The Project

KWOS and the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden are combining their expertise to restore native Keys orchids to KWTF&BG and all of the Florida Keys.

Project Scope

Pollinating select orchids, plating them in a laboratory, raising then in a shade house on site and then transplanting them into their native landscape. See the entire project plan in the attached presentation.

Our First Babies

Approximately 1,000 Native Encyclia tampensis seedlings in the greenhouse at Fairchild Botanical Garden in Coral Gables on May 1, 2024. Pollinated from a native Key West plant in 2023.
